Download and install the OS 9 version driver for the printer. Then while in Classic (like when using Word), use the Chooser to select the driver and printer, then you can print.
(I guess you're using a USB-parallel adapter cable?)
Chooser gives me two choices - Laserwriter 8 and AppleShare. AppleTalk is not active. When I select Laserwriter 8, an error screen comes up and tells me that AppleTalk must be active for Laserwriter 8 to work and tells me to go to the Appletalk Control Panel to turn it on. Come to find out the version of OS 9 Classic doesn't have that control panel.
