Use Almost any USB Scanner in OS X!

Personally I was not familiar with VueScan, untill I happened apon it on an artical about important OS X apps at Lowendmac.com. I thought I would be waiting the rest of my life to use my Canon 1220u scanner with OS X. Low and behold this great little App solved all my problems. This program is a full blown application compatible with almost any USB scanners. It allows you to make hundred of adjustments, for instance change DPI, Size, Color, and I works like a charm under OS X. I dont know why this App isnt talked about more often. It has been out since 10.0.4. Use your scanners now, screw waiting for drivers from manufacturers.:D

actually there have been several threads about it. the problem is that most people have the few scanners it doesn't support - like UMAX. glad you like it so much, i only wish it worked for me.

I too have been waiting for the Canonscan drivers - I have a N1220u. I thought that it was odd that Apple would sell a scanner on their website that wouldn't work with OSX. Vuescan only recently supported my scanner, but it seems to be working great. That was the only thing that I ever loaded classic for.

Now, the only thing that I am waiting for is USB print sharing then the transition is complete. I even have my USB webcam working.

I know (from reading your tag line) that this probably won't help you, but VueScan has added UMAX 3400 USB support.

VueScan doesn't work with my Canon FB636U (USB) scanner (dl'd it - ran it - ASP recognises my scanner when it's plugged in, but VueScan doesn't), and Canon look uncommitted to bring out drivers and software for OS X for it. Does anyone know of any other software that I can use? Regards Zeal :)

Just curious, which USB webcam do you have? I have a Logitech QuickCam Express USB that I can't find any 3rd party drivers that work for it.

I have a Microtek Scanmaker 3750i at work, which is supposed to work under X in more than one way, and I have yet to get it working. It will work under Classic, but only during that current session. If I log out or power down or reboot, I have to reinstall the software to make it work again. I find myself just waiting until I get home and use my Agfa scanner to do scans for work.
