Usefull Software?!

Hello everyone,

I'm getting my eMac soon. And i was wondering if i need any other usefull software.
I want to watch ogm mkv and avi files on it can quicktime do that or are there any other programs for that?
Ooh and is there a trail version of Final Cut Express?
Coz i want to buy it but for me it's al little bit expensive.

between mplayer and VLC you should be able to get those going. I don't think we'll have a ogm plugin for quicktime anytime soon, though you got the ogg part already. Someone has said that apple japan has an unofficial matroska plugin, I highly doubt it but then again those are a bit more popular in asia. No, trial version of final cut express... either get a student discount or I just purchased a copy version 2 off ebay for 89 bucks not bad... and congratulations.
 
Don there is no trial version of Final Cut Express. You may have to content yourself with using iMovie and iDVD which should come with your eMac if it has a Superdrive. If not the iLife package is only $49 and includes GarageBand.
