User Specific Preferences

Is there a way that I can set it up so that each of my users have their own seperate preferences? Specifically, I'm the only one in the house who uses remote access, and I don't want it to be on when anyone other than me is logged in using the computer. So when I log off I want terminal access to go off too, and to only come on if whatever other user has turned it on.

The only way I know to make this happen so far is to turn it off manually before I get off.

Also, does anyone know if there are logs for remote terminal access? I can't find where there are any logs of connections/disconnections/whatever to my computer over remote access and it would be really nice if I could find where those are.

Thanks for the help guys.

By default in Mac OS X, every user has their own specific preferences. So you shouldn't need to do anything special for it to be set up this way. Just logout, and when another user logs in, they have their own specific preferences.

There might be a few preferences that are shared, but very few.

But why do you need remote access when you are logged in locally? Remote access seems like it would be more useful if you are away from the computer...

Oh, yeah, logs: the command 'last' will give you all the logins, local or remote, since the wtmp file started (older copies are at /var/log/wtmp.(0-5).gz).

The records are there in a bit more detail, although it is mixed in with other stuff, in /var/log/system.log
