Using a Canon PIXMA MP780 with Airport

Hi Folks,
First time participant to the forum. Just purchased a nice Canon PIXMA MP780 (a multifunction machine with copy/print/fax/scan) for my business.

I can get the printer to work fine when directly connected to my Powerbook G4 by USB cable. But NO LUCK YET when the USB cable is directly connected to the Airport Base Station. My computer does not recognize the printer in rendezvous, thus there is no drive to select.

Can someone suggest how to get this great printer to work with my airport and allow my Powerbook to roam again?

Thanks

Which Base Station?
What version of OS X?

Could be the MP780 isn't compatible with Airport, not all are, and if it is, only the printer will work, not scan or copy.

I have an Airport Extreme Base Station, MAC OSX 10.3.9

I spoke with both Apple and Canon...then looked at the posts on the Apple/Support/ web site....

Appears that no version of OSX or Airport works with the Canon PIXMA MP780

Quite Frustrating unfortunately..nice printer/copier/fax...but useless if I have to be tethered to the thing!

Any insights or workarounds? Otherwise, I need to return this and find a compatible device for our airport and network...

If you want an all-in-one that works over a network, buy one with built-in ethernet or wireless, because those have drivers designed for a network. The rest don't have network drivers (for OS X).

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good color printer/copier/fax/scanner that is airport compatible and doesn't break the bank?
