Using Samba - From Apple

As far as information on SMB/CIFS, Apple has thoughtfully included an entire O'Reilly book called Using Samba right in the OS. Open up your Terminal and type (or just copy/paste) the following:

open /usr/share/swat/using_samba/toc.html

and the book will open in your default browser.

Hey nice find bobw... I was in the process of trying to setup my new Linux server box with smb to communicate with my Mac. As was expected, nothing is straightforward... hopefully this'll help loads.

You can also just paste the location into Safari and it will open it. Should work with other browsers as well.
