Unofficial Mac Genius
I'm sure many of you know that you can use text clippings to store information. What you do is highlight a piece of text, click and hold for about half a second, and then drag the text to the desktop. The Finder will automatically create a clipping with the selected text.
The problem is, there's been no real easy way to get the text OUT of the text clipping again. You can't copy it or do anything with it, except for view it by double clicking on it.
However, I found something that, so far, I have never seen documented.
To get the contents out of the text clipping, just drag it to a document window or a form and the contents will be dropped into that window/form. Try this: create a text clipping. Then open up TextEdit and drag the icon of the text clipping onto a new window. The contents of the text clipping will now be placed in that window!
Enjoy!
