VHS Connector Thingey

My friend is thinking of buying a VHS cam-corder and we were wondering if there was anything that we could buy that would allow us to use the cameras AV In/Out port to connect to my iBook. I want to edit our footage in iMovie but I don't know if it's possible to get the film onto the computer.

Is there any special converter out there or something? Any ideas?

VHS Camcorder? why bother when you can get DV cameras for just a little bit more? Keep the whole process digital, and the quality won't degrade.

However, if you're going to stick with analog... what you need is a video to firewire bridge... Which has all sorts of video inputs and outputs (RCA, S-video) on the front, and a firewire hookup in the back, that goes into your Mac.

Anybody have any video bridge recommendations?

If you want a bridge that doesn't work, and may or may not give you leprocy, get Dazzle. If there's not demons inside the thing that will haunt you for eternity, you get double your money back!

All kidding aside, there is one good thing about Dazzle. The actual physical bridge is pretty tough. It took several blows with a baseball bat and still remained intact, taunting me.
