Vista release date

I know this is not strictly Apple news, but it potentially ties in with Apple's strategy, such as the release of Leopard.

According to the BBC:
BBC said:
From 30 November corporate customers of the software giant will be able to get their hands on the next version of the operating system.

Also on that date Microsoft will make available Office 2007 - its suite of business programs.

Home users will have to wait until January 2007 to get hold of a copy of the Vista software.

Minimum specs: 800 MHz CPU, 512 MB RAM, DirectX 9 capable, 15 GB of free disk space

Recommended specs: 1 GHz CPU (32 or 64 bit), 1 GB RAM, Runs Windows Aero, 128 MB graphics card, 15 GB free disk space

Well, Vista's new features are of course known by now. RC2 has been released, RTM is about to happen. Even if Leopard would be released today, MS wouldn't have the time to add copied new features. Then again, MS can copy things later and release service packs. ;) But I don't think Apple's _really_ afraid of Vista copying Leopard. When Steve said they wouldn't release more info about Leopard beforehand because of Vista, my guess was (and is) that there simply wasn't much that could be shown yet.
