Wallstreet cache

Hey, i just got the cache-less wallstreet... i know i know, not a good choice eh! But i just needed it for doing assignments and stuff, so it didnt really matter. So, i'd like to change a few things on the book now. First, is there a way to add L2 cache? Second, where can I find a reasonable SCSI harddrive for it. Third, WHAT do i do about that flickery display (you know the issue with the 13" wallstreets!)!

So... any suggestions?

The cache is built into the processor card, so to add L2 you need to replace the card. I replace my original G3/266 (with 1 MB of L2) with a G4/500 (with 1 MB of L2), which turned my PowerBook into my primary system.

As for SCSI devices, ebay has a pretty good selection. It is easier if you are running in Mac OS 9 or earlier because there aren't drivers for many older items for Mac OS X.

As for hard drives, the internal drive is on an IDE bus. Most PowerBook/laptop hard drives work with Wallstreets... except some IBM drives due to problem with the magnetic field they put out (they put Wallstreets to sleep because of the drive placement).

I've only seen one 13" and didn't notice a flicker at the time. Maybe someone else with more experience can address that or check the boards over at Apple to see if anyone else has brought it up.

Yeah, the 13" model DOES have an issue. The cable on the 13" models came through the side of the screen rather than the middle, so it had to make a sharp turn, and so it flickers sometimes.

Yeah i know ebay has a good collection, ive been looking there, but the thing is that i dont have any experience with SCSI. So i wanted to know what do i need to connect SCSI drives to the PB, what cables do i need, is it external, installation. An online guide will suffice.
