Web pages slow opening

I am using a macbook which i have just upgraded to leopard, when i connect to the internet it takes for ever to open the web pages.. I am using a Netgear DGN2000 router. I have contacted netgear and they say i need to contact Mac. I am also using a HP laptop on vista which connects and opens web pages in seconds, any ideas?
 
How much RAM is in your macbook?
How much free HD space?
How was it opening web pages prior to upgrading Leopard?
Did you install Leopard hoping it would fix it, if it was happening with 10.4.x?
Did you run all of your software updates to 10.5.8?
Are you using Safari, Firefox, or both?
If both, is it happening with both browsers?
 
Have you checked your Network settings?
It could be the DNS server that is causing the slowness.
If you change those numbers to: 4.2.2.2
You will use the Open DNS and not be bogged down by your ISP's.

Thanks for your reply, I have now reverted back to my old router a Netgear DG834 and all is working well, it must be something to to do with the N setting on the router that the Mac doesn't like...
 
You can check and modify the router settings. Instructions should have come with the router. If not, check Netgear's web site. There should be a specific url that brings you to the preferences of your router.

"I found a website that explained that the problem with Leopard is a new method of searching DNS servers. I tried their recommended fix and I'm blazing again.

Why Apple made the change from "A Record" queries to "SRV" queries isn't clear to me. However, bypassing the whole issue via manual entry of recommended OpenDNS servers solved the problem for me.
