Hi Guys!
I am looking for the perfect web photo album creator :)

I am doing all my HTML etc. in Dreamweaver and there I have some nice plugins that can help me open a new picture window from the thumbnail in the right size.

But,, is there any application better then iPhoto, Photoshop etc. where you have all this nice choices of cell spacing, all thumbnails in the same size AND that the original picture will open in a new window with the same size as the picture?

I want an album looking and working like this example (only the first pictures working now)

Weird...found this while searching for historical photos. The gallery the guy had was nice, and he's on a mac.com account. Saw a 'created with' thing at the bottom and remembered a post on here about something like this. I haven't tried it, but might use it for a project I have coming up. Looks like it might be a good thing to try.

Says you can make your own templates...so control shouldn't be an issue here. Might even be able to make then compliant...who knows. Here's a link for templates for that program, a how-to on their design.

Gallery is nice - most sites made with it look good. But I couldnt get it installed; or rather I couldnt be bothered to go through the installation procedure - it involved mucking about in Terminal etc, which is all well and good but seemed unneccessary for something I just wanted to build very basic pages with until I had got to grips with Dreamweaver. Its apparently a lot easier to set up on PCs.
So I used JAlbum which you can get from versiontracker - setting up is easy, there are thousands of 'skins' and views, and its child's play to use.
Simply, you just create folders for each page of photos you want, and drag the photos in, and for each page of links to other pages, you create a folder and drag those page folders in, and tell JAlbum how many columns and rows you want and what skin and off it goes, builds the site including thumbnails, uploads it, Bob's yer uncle.
Simply put, you create you site structure with folders and the desired objects in those folders, and it figures out the rest.

Although it might not be exactly what you're looking for, I like Coppermine Photo Gallery (http://coppermine.sf.net/). It's written in PHP, database driven, and customizable via templates. The problem I've always had with client based galleries like from iPhoto or Photoshop Elements, is that in order to add a photo or new gallery, you are creating a bunch of additional static pages. Then if your site design changes, you need to recreate all the static pages or recreate the galleries. Which is why I like this app. If I want to change something, I can do it dynamically with a template, or add or remove pics from a gallery without having to modify all the other pages.

I must say that Galerie suggested by mdnky is the most easy and absolutely the best application I have ever seen :)

A million thanks!!!

??? You must have been using an older version. The one available now for download simply requires you to drag the files from the DMG to where you want them installed. The first time you use it you have to set the path for the templates folder, but that's done in the preferences with a simple button and a few clicks in a directory tree.
