Web Site Ads

OK, well since Yahoo yanked my free FTPing (and since other sites that offer free FTP dont allow media content on your site, either that or each file has to be less than 256kb :p) I decided to pretty much bite the bullet and pay $5 per month to yahoo. THis gives me free FTP and more bandwidth (which is nice) and no ads! The thing is though that I will be paying out of my pocket for this (damn...I cant write it off) so I was thinking of putting an ad or two on my page. Any suggestions as to what wouldnt be VERY intrussive and peole would actually click on to help subsidize my site ? :p

since your site is about music, it seems like anything relating to music would be good. maybe even one of those deals where you refer people to where they can find more of the music you are playing could even be considered a service to your visiters.

Specialized ads such as OSDN or Thinkgeek ads tend to go over well with most people on the web.

Text ads are also gaining popularity, for good reason.

Go text ads!

Text ads are:
  • Unobtrusive
  • Informational
  • Easy to store

But also they are:
  • Hard to see if you put them at the end of your webpage

If you wanna make $$$ with ads, try the banner ads. :D

I personally like small, unobtrusive flash ads. :p

i hate those adds!!!!! arg!!
like this one!

warning:this image contains foul language. if you dont want to see it then dont click on the link.

Just an FYI, Apple has a pay-for-more-space program with iTools, too. Not sure how it compares with the Yahoo prices and features though.

Use pop-under ads. Smart people (like me) use browsers that block them :D

now do I make money just for having the ad there or if people actually click on it? or would I make $$$ if the window opens up ? :p

Charge a monthly fee of $5 - $15 dollars and when someone clicks on the ad, charge them $0.20 or less/more.

btw, when I said flash ads, I meant Macromedia Flash Ads. :D

Shockwave ads are an annoying resource hog. All ads are, IMHO, but that's what banner blinds is for :D
