Webcams

Could someone enlighten me on why most webcams don't work with Macs or OS X? I recently bought my sister a b&w tower to switch from her Windows agony - she said she likes the Mac better because it doesn't crash (duh) - (since I upgraded it with x.2 and everything).

She has a logitech webcam and I think it's pretty good. Too bad she can't use it.

many webcams work fine with macs. i can run mine in os 9 no problem. but for osx they need to be firewire for the most part. there are some third party enablers for some of the usb models available at www.versiontracker.com, but mostly you need to invest in a firewire model to get decent results in os x.
