Wed Browser not loading on secure sites

I am a brand new Mac owner. I have been PC since the dark ages and thought I would give Mac a try but,,,,

I am unable to access beyond certain points in my secure web sites. I have had no problems with IE on my PC. FireFox even on PC has never been able to access either. I suspect it is only a security issue with the respective sites but has Mac or Mac supported browsers been able to over come this.

I would hate to think I will have to use a PC for work only because Mac isnt capable.

If Firefox cannot access the files on your PC, it seems the problem is more on the site than on the Mac. Most likely they use some extension on the pages that work only on IE. Since Microsoft has stopped IE support on OS X, I guess your only solution (if you cannot fix the web sites) is to install Windows on your Mac and run IE there. For that you have two options: Bootcamp for dual boot or some virtual machine (VMWare Fusion, Parallel or Oracle's VirtualBox).
