Well I finally got to use the Dashboard

Today I stopped by CompUSA and they had Tiger installed on all of their Macs in the Apple section. (This is where I got my DVI > Video adapter.) I was playing with the Dashboard for a while. I like it a lot (of course this makes me want Tiger more. Must get Tiger.... Must get Tiger.... It was like a chant in my head.)

I noticed that the 'ripple' effect does not work on the eMac. I guess the video card dosent support it?

Anyway I just thought I'd share that.

Typing from a Slax linux machine now.

i've been having so many "problems" with tiger. now i realise non of them were *actually* tigers fault just coincidence they all happened at the same time. also my work on adobe apps has recently got a LOT more intensive, so i was mistaking this slowdown for tiger. ah well.

no, eMac's don't support full core image stuff, nor do mac mini's and iBooks

The PowerMac G5 that it was on was neat. I could see the processor fans spinning slowly through the front cover. As I started doing more on it they sped up.

it's the effect that happens when you drop a dashboard widget on the dashboard. it really is a very realistic water effect. i've screenshot a bit of it, but if you watch the wwdc video on apple site - it'll show all of tigers features

Yes, I believe that the ripple effect is available for PowerBooks. :)
Althogh I may be corrected being that I dont have Tiger yet, nor have I used it on a PowerBook.

it needs either a radeon 9600 or higher, or a GeForce fx5200 or higher. check your pb with the new tiger system profiler, which now tells you what gfx card you have, instead of a code number
