I didn't see anything on the topic here, so I thought this might be a good opportunity to post some thoughts on the whole affair.
As you probably already know, Minnesota's U.S. Senator Paul Wellstone died in an airplane crash in northern Minnesota recently. The memorial service for Mr. Wellstone turned into a huge political rally for Walter Mondale.
I've heard that Vice President Dick Cheney was asked not to attend, and the republicans who DID attend were actually booed. Governor Jesse Ventura was offended and left early.

As a guy who generally votes Republican, here are my thoughts
Even though I would never vote for him, I was saddened with the news of the deaths. I thought a memorial service was appropriate for the remembrance of Paul Wellstone, and the passion that he always fought with. But, I was disappointed with the event as a whole. The service was on almost all local channels, and I didn't feel right watching this "memorial service". It turned into an alienating (for me anway) rally.
