Western Digital Passport USB2 120GB External Drive

Just bought the above. Works on the windoze machines but not seen by the PB (non-intel 15" alumimium). Saw some suggestions that it draws over 500mv from USB and therefore exceeds specs and apples are limited to 500mv but not sure if this is hot air.
Drive is not even seen by PB.
Ideas anyone - Am considering getting a Firewire cable with an adaptor to fit the drive side.

Appears to be OK if I power the drive with a transformer, but defeats the use of it as a portable drive
 
It seems that the power draw issue is a real problem. I remember some others complaining about this issue some months ago on this forum. Don't remember if they were able to find a resolution to their problem, but a quick search through the forum might come up with some answers. :)
 
I also picked up a Western Digital Passport external, and have the same power draw problem. I am working on a PowerBook G4. When I plug the drive in to my old dual USB iBook, it works just fine... I agree that having to use an external power supply defeats the purpose of a portable drive. Quite annoying. Have looked online for FireWire to USB adapters, but haven't been able to find one... Where do they sell these?
