Okay, I did a few searches and think I understand a few things, but I just wanted some clear responses before I plop down $300 - $400. I want to buy a DVD drive for my G4-450 primmarily for writing movies and data backups.
It seems that the Pioneer DVR-A04 is the actual Apple Super drive (yes/no?) and is my best bet. Is it easy to install? Do I need to find a specific model for the Mac?
I read some rumors that iDVD does not support external drives - is this true? Any other reason I should avoid an external drive?
What about DVD+RW - should I just wait and see what happens with formats? IS there a drive and/or software for Macs that supports DVD+RW?
Any other advice?
P.S. I am finding great prices on everything at http://www.enpc.com/
