What is sh-2.05a?

I did a reinstall and now I don't get past the splash screen and

sh-2.05a in a prompt in the top left corner.

I ran fsck-y on my drive and it seems OK.

I desperately need to get back into my system, any help would be appreciated.

that is a command line, more or less similar to what you get in terminal window. You get it normally if u hold apple+s n startup. but really dunno why you get that on a fresh installation

I mean I can then do some terminal stuff.

But how do I get out of it and get to the Finder?

Am I going to be forced back to an earlier version?

OSX has been a lot of trouble, I don't know when I will see the light at the end of the tunnel.

I wouldn't know about you but I haven't had any serious trouble with os x since october when I got my first mac

and in your place I'd check the disk if everything's there ("ls /"...) to see if maybe u the installation did not copy all the files

We could get some valuable information here about what went wrong with your installation.

At the prompt, enter:

cat "/Library/Receipts/Mac OS X Log.txt" | more

... and make note of any errors that are listed, as well of what stage the install log finishes at.

It is most likely you will have to reinstall again because the installer failed. It might help, though, if we could see why the installer failed.
