What is the advantage to have a faster computer?

Deep, Herve.

Trouble with most PC freaks is, they're willing to spend half their income on having a "faster" computer, even though all they really do is play games. Just visit a PC trading meet; it is truely painful to watch these guys buy up hundreds of bucks worth of stuff, then pile it into their 20 year old datsuns and head home for more "fragging".

I think FUNCTION is more important than speed any day. Viva la Mac!

Fast computer + Gigabit ethernet =

Do lots of work while having a lot of MP3s and Music Videos in Queue for downloads :p

Hmmm.... I think I want DSL ;-)

Yeah, I wish I had DSL or cable or whatever, but there is nothing like that available outside the capital cities in Australia.

Just how many Capital cities does Australia have? I saw Canbera and thought, nice, green, very square and circular roads, odd place, too many suits, not enough oxygen.

Or are you talking about each States' capital? So you're telling me Alice Springs has a DSL server? And Hobart? Wow, I guess I didn';t experience the real Oz when I was there for a year.

Saying that though, Mt Buller is a cool place.

damn strait.

I'm glad to see we're in agreement then.

Oz has 7 state capitals as well as regional cities on fibre lines between these places (eg: Ballarat, between Adelaide and Melbourne, if you were with 10 km of the fibre line, you could arrange it.)
Anyway, since I'm about 120km from Melbourne on the surf-coast, there is zilch, except for satellite. And sat is expensive and awkward, and still uses phone lines to send.

Anyway, I like to be mobile. I have dial-ups for my sister's house and in Melbourne.

I was thinking, faster PCs would mean windows is able to crash even more spectacularly.
