What the hell is happening

if I plug any thing into my cpu while its on it will freeze even in X and if I shut down and plug it in when I go to turn it on the light will light up but no startup sound and the screen stays black and doesn't start up!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
i desperately hope that you don't actually put in a PCI card or something while you're computer is running!

what are you trying to plug in?
