What do I do with this thing? Barely used. Not necessarily looking to sell. Just can't figure if I can use it with XP or even a new mac? Any advice welcome. Likewise I'd like to use an old 030 for something but don't know if I can network, it print serve from it, etc...

I presume that you are talking about a LaserWriter IIg. If you are, then all you need is a toner cartridge (which you probably have already) and an AAUI Ethernet transceiver and you are pretty much set. The LW IIg is a PostScript Level 2 printer having a built-in print server with an Ethernet AAUI port among its connectivity options. You will need the transceiver to convert AAUI to RJ-45. Plug it into your router and print to it from any Mac in the building. Printing from the Mac will be as easy as enabling AppleTalk. You can certainly share it from MacOS X if you want to print from Windows or Linux. To print directly from Windows may require a workaround. If you want to do that, then you may have to use the serial port.
