Hi,

Yet another question, just wondering: I'm thinking of buying an old PowerMac G4, mainly because I want a mac, and I'm broke. I'll definately be upgrading from the specs as it is at the moment (Dual 500mhz proc, 40gb hdd, 512mb sdram, 16mb vram adc and vga) to 80gb hdd and a usb 2.0 controller. I was just wondering do I have to buy a certain type of ram especially for apple computers? I'm in the UK, and I've been looking at crucial.com and macsales.com, is there any other sites?

Thanks

you can buy regular PC RAM, it doesn't matter. It just has to be the right type for the particular machine.

One thing to take into consideration is that you don't want to get some no-name cheapo RAM. Mac OS X is very sensitive to timings and cheapo RAM will just give you problems. Best thing to do is go with a well-known brand. Doesn't have to be expensive, but has to be a well-known brand name.
