When to switch ...

At this risk of bating half of the board .... I think it would be good to have some genuine discussion... and -- honestly -- I would like some help.

I have yet to see a compelling reason for the upgrade to Jaguar, but as time goes along I start to feel as if I am slipping behind. I've listened to the discussions pro/con, but nothing has moved me.

I run a 600 MHz G3 iBook with 640 MB of RAM and use the usually productivity applications. I enjoy the rock-solid stability of OSX. My first restart happened months after I turned on the machine. (Compare that with the usual 2-3 times daily in the MS world!) And I am reluctant to do things that might mess with this.

Will Jaguar be a plus or minus?? What do I get for the $$?? Should I switch or not?

Personally, I don't think Jaguar is worth $120. I am about like you, I use my Mac mainly for MS Office, browsing the internet and doing some Photoshop stuff. Sure OSX is a bit faster, but from what I can tell nothing amazing (and my video card 'supports' Quartz Extreme).

If I were in your shoes I would invest my $120 into something more worthwhile than an OS upgrade. That's just my opinion.
