Where to get iBook parts?

Hello,

The power socket on my iBook is bad (loose connection). I called the local "Mac Store" to ask if they can fix it. "Send it off to Apple for a minimal of $400 charge." No wonder they are one of "the best Macintosh support centers West of the Mississippi." I digress.

We were not about to spend $400 on an old out of warrantee system. So we took it apart - not for the faint of heart. Unfortunately fixing the piece was not going to be a simple soldering job. I need a new one. Where do I get parts like this?

Hello,

Thank you for the reference. Every repair shop was the same. "Apple will not sell us the parts. You need to ship the computer out to get repaired." The predominant theory is this is Apple's way of making machines obsolete quicker - too cost prohibitive to repair.

I'll get the part in a few days and do it myself.
