Which camcorder?!?

I've been scouring the net for a camcorder and every time I find something I like, it seems incompatible with OSX Tiger...I really wanted the JVC MG70 which has a 30GB Hard Drive instead of tapes but the Capty software that comes with it only works on 10.1 up to 10.3.9...what to do...?

I'm looking to take a camcorder on holiday with me at xmas and be able to transfer to my iBook whilst I'm there...any ideas on what would be the best solution would be appreciated...something that will be easy to manage with iMovie would be great...

has anyone tried the new panasonic sd ecam ? surely that would do away with the firewire needs?
 
Agreed. Just make sure that whatever camera you buy, it has FireWire ( aka i.Link, aka IEEE 1394 )... FireWire is the industry standard tie that binds, and most any FireWire camera will work with Apple's free iMovie software, as well as Final Cut. That's all you need.
 
Yep - I've been looking at camcorders with firewire - I like the look of the Sony HDR-HC1 - quite expensive here in the UK at over £1,100 but it is high def capable and a bit more future proof than anything else I can see...can anyone tell me if this will be okay with iMovie...?
