which PDA to purchase

I'm a new member so please excuse if this question has already been responded to at earlier times.
Been a mac owner since my Mac SE, now using imac with system 9.2 and powerbook with system 10X.
My delimma is this. Clies look real nice BUT I have difficulty purchasing it since SONY doesn't support Macs and even thought I could purchase Missing Synch, there is still the principle of it all.
My main requirements are color screen and mac compatibility and finding something that is lightweight and thin.
I have considered purchasing a visor edge on techforless for $129 because of lightness and compatibility thing but the lack of color and no return policy turns me off. I need it mostly for contacts and addresses and appointment book. I have never owned a PDA but have played with friends' ones. If the Palm 515 wasn't so expensive, I'd consider it but $300 for it is much too much. The tungsten T is nice but more than I need; don't need an MP3 player.
So any imput would be helpful and anyone even selling something would be considered as well, although this is not a request to really purchase anything.
many thanx.

Pity you want a color screen. Zire (by Palm) would be a good deal otherwise. I would buy it if it only had Bluetooth. I think that is the most important thing.

It is a little more pricey, but the Tungsten T is a great pda and more than Mac compatible. I upgraded from a HandSpring Visor Platinum around the holidays and it is a major upgrade.
The color screen is wonderful, it has plenty of memory and enough freeware/share apps to really make it do what you want.
I do have one of the mp3 players on it but I hardly ever use it as the iPod is more convenient. That said, I do have a skin on my player that gives it an iTunes interface.

Aside from the normal scheduling etc of the pda, other cool things are using a program called Kinoma Producer which lets you convert and play video. I have some of the Animatrix episodes, some music videos and some home movies I coverted from iMovie all on my T/T (a card reader which shouldn't cost more than $25 is a must-have as is a larger memory card).

There's PalmReader which lets you download books and what not and it has a Mac reader as well. There's GPS programs, games, etc.

There are a few drawbacks such as Audible.com isn't Mac compatible with the T/T, but that's ok since I use that with iTunes.

I prefer Palm Desktop, but you can use iSync to copy stuff over to iCal. And since the T/T is bluetooth-enabled, you can connect it wirelessly to your Mac (though you may need a bluetooth dongle depending on your model).

It's a little more expensive than other models, but far more than an mp3 player, especially since you seem to disdain clies.

I have a g4 powerbook and an imac. How would the bluetooth of the T/T work with either of those macs? Are you saying I could synch to palm desktop wirelessly?

Yes. If either of your Macs already has Bluetooth, all you have to do is activate Bluetooth and pair them. If not, there are bluetooth dongles out (I believe D-Link is often mentioned as the most reliable), you use the dongle to create a bluetooth signal, then you pair it up with your Tungsten (and/or cellphone if it also has bluetooth) and you can sync wirelessly rather than having to go through the hot sync cradle.

I don't know if it'll work from a pda, but there is some apps available that let you control aspects of your bluetooth-enabled Mac via a bluetooth Ericsson phone.
