sooooo. need help: I have circa 2007 white imac g5 ppc. i had put leopard on it, and in the last few months, because my real computer had died, I scrambled to use the old imac, which i had planned on wiping and selling but had never gotten around to it. ok, so: in the middle of that I had gotten the software update prompts, and oked it but then had forgotten they were still running when I shut down and unplugged the machine and that's where the story really begins.
Can't seem to get this thing booted up with either a tiger or leopard install disk, BECAUSE..... i don't have a wired MAC keyboard. I have two mac bluetooth keyboards, which are not paired to this computer, and i went and got a dynex wired board to try and get this going, but as I understand it, that needs to be programmed so the computer recognizes it. i did program that keyboard by using my macbook pro, but when replugging it into the imac and pressing all possible buttons ("C" key or "alt" key), nothing happens, and i am still looking at the apple logo on a grayish, white screen.
anyone got any ideas of how to get this past this stage?
tried the whole unplug the computer and hold power button down thing.
i would assume that the computer is toast at this point, but I am loathe to throw it out without getting it completely wiped as I still have personal documents on it and someone who is smarter than me will figure this out.
please any suggestions? I am pretty mac savvy but am not at the point of physically dismantling anything.
