Some AMD 64 benchies

Note:
Without a fully supported motherboard, nor using the 64 bit version of windows XP beta. Mind you being the cheapest and lowest level AMD 64.

At 1.6 ghz (32bit), doing 587.8fps on quake3demo run...
Oh and uses a pretty small aircooled fan. Pretty impressive...

If the XP can outperform a G5, Apple says fastest personal computer? I think someone should reconsider!

This is simply shameful... Note this is only an Athlon XP 2000+, which you can probably get for 50$.

Non-technical test, but interesting.

XP 1700 beats G5, in some cases twice as fast.


What happened to G5 being super duper? :(
 
the G5's speed has been highly disputed thus far, some tests have run optimized software, some haven't... until a test comes out that uses optimized software across the board, on all machines, it will be hard to tell which machine will infact be the fastest...

often times, it really comes down to the OS and which one you are more comfortable working with in, because if the user is comfortable, in the end, they will be a bit faster....

anyways, don't let this turn into another obscene "debate"

Sure, but still that doesn't have anything to do with a cpu performance. I won't say G5 is the fastest nor the slowest, but I sure as hell wont believe apples benchmarks. That's for sure.

btw - this guy has never been able to back anything up with facts, just quotes from other dell cheerleaders like himself.
 
May I comment something on these things here?
I got very confused that someone got banned because of comparing performances. We should all know there is much more than some integer and floating scores that makes a comp a good one.
And it confuses me that we bann someone because of his attitude. I am posting in some pc-forums too and noone banned me because I told them how much better macosx is...

it's usually not what you say but how you say it that gets you banned. this member was previously banned for flaming and insulting. all he was doing was baiting others into doing the same. that's a form of troll and trolls will not be tolerated here.
