Why buy a new MacBook?

A refurbished first generation MacBook from Apple costs between $US 850 and 890. For simple use (occasional iMovie, DevonThink, surfing) would an older Core Duo notebook due? Or are there too many problems in the first generation? Thanks for you advise. I am thinking of buying two...
 
Personally, I would stay away from the first gens. However, since they are refurbs Apple might have fixed the issues they originally had....however, it's a gamble. I would wait until you see the Core 2 Duo models show up in the refurb list. That's my dos-centavos-worth. :D
 
The refurbs do come with a year of AppleCare, however, and you can - should - invest in the full AppleCare Protection Plan, especially with a laptop.
