Why cant i move folders from the desktop to the Harddrive ?

HELP !!!!!!

I´d like to move some folders from my desktop to the HD , but the system says ; "The item could not be moved because HD cannot be modified " .
Does anyone know how to fix this ??

It's a permission problem. You should be able to move to your home directory.

But you can change this. highlight the hard drive, go to File Menu to Get Info. Under Ownership & Permissions you can change it.

You might want to run Repair Permissions from the Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. Just click on the First Aid tab when you open it.

But there are no such options in the information menu .
I belive it has something to do with the user structure , since i cant index my HD .
