Why should I use iPhoto?

My question may appear weird, but I really can't make up my mind. Currently I am just using the Finder, in the Pictures folder there are about 10 sub folders; each folder holds 50 or so pictures. This is okay, I suppose. Would iPhoto make my organisation any better? I use an iPod; this is why I have it set up like this.

I'm using 10.4.4.
 
just like in itunes, playlists synced with the ipod show up as they are on the ipod. the same with albums, and smart albums. iphoto is a nearly perfect way of organising photos. not images, but photos, that has to be stressed.
