Why wont iTunes add wavs to my library??

I'm kinda confused here. I have some wav files I would like to add to my library but iTunes wont add them. I tried doing File> Add to Library... and dragging and dropping but it doesn't do anything. Works fine with mp3s and aiffs.

Do the WAVs play alright in the Finder and/or QuickTime? Perhaps the files are corrupted or non-standard.

They play in finder and quicktime. They were rendered from Pro Tools 6.0.x and uploaded to an FTP where i downloaded them.

It is not like mission critical that I get them to work, I have no problem just listening to them in Finder. I am just confused, especially because Finder thought they should have the iTunes icon.
