Wifi problem with G4 iBook and Belkin 54g

Hi,
I've recently got a second hand G4 iBook from a friend and all works well on it but am having problems connecting to the internet through the wireless router - a Belkin 54g. I just set up a DSL cable modem at home and I can connect fine with this using the ethernet cable. When I ran another ethernet cable from the router to the computer it also went ok and I was able to configure my WEP key on Belkin's website. The problem now is that whilst I can connect to my wifi network using my WEP hex key (I know its my network as I changed its name), my airport shows full signal, in the network section it shows airport on green light and says I'm connected to the internet - but when I start safari it says it couldn't connect !!!! How does that work !
I'm new to Macs so any help (in laymans terms!) would be appreciated...
Thanks

Try a power off/on on the DSL modem and the router. Sometimes the modem gets lost. My D-Link did. I put the modem and wi-fi router (not Belkin) through the same power point so I could do both at the same time, it was happening fairly frequently. It's settled down with a couple of software upgrades.

My neighbour has a Belkin 54g and my G4 iBook will connect to it without me trying - I want to connect to my own network, but from an upstairs room it tries to use his Belkin.
