Wind in FCP3

Are there any ways to muffle, or get rid of, the sound of wind in video. My employer wants me to use some footage that has wind blowing in it, any help would be appreciated

What you ask is tricky. Removal of the 'blow' of the wind from the sound can be a hit and miss process.

All I can suggest is that you play around with the sounds EQ settings, and you might get lucky. In failing that, you can try one of the many audio filters that are available in FCP.

I suggest that you try the '3 band equaliser' pass filter first. Select the sound channels and then select "Effects > Audio Filters" and then select the one you want.

To access the controls of this filter, you need to select the 'Filter' tab in the Viewer window. Then it's just a matter of moving the sliders to find the best combination for your needs.

I learned a lot with the basic tutorials. And the user manuals should cover the rest ;)

thanks, the tutorials on dvcreators.net are good but sometimes limited, the i'll look at the manual, it looks intimadating at first but maybe once you get into it it's okay

The manuals are there, but there are thick as a bible and there are three of them. I recommend that you buy the Quick Visual Guide on Final Cut Pro. It's simple and you can find what you are looking for in the index, simple, quick, just what you wanted.

I also recommend that you also do the tutorial that is included with the software package.

All the best.
