WE have a new 2003 server in place acting as a File server for MACOSX clients. Problem is when we place Mac fonts on the server and open it up on Mac clients it corrupts it. I guess it doesnt recognize what kind of file it is and thinks its a txt file. What's an easy fix for this?

Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the the mac's are using SMB ie no mac services running on the Windows server.

If thats the case you will either need to turn on mac services or make sure the suffix is attached to the files that are saved to the windows server.

Hope this helps

We are running SFM. But when we come across files without extensions, it thinks it's a txt and when we double click the file (on MAC) it doesnt know what file it is or what to do with it... Is there a way to tell the WIndows file server not to touch the file. Dont make it .txt file or nothing... Just hold it!

If you are accessing them through AppleTalk, then try accessing them using SMB if you haven't already.

I actually had a similar situation where Services for Macintosh didn't allow my Mac at work to run the installer for FileMaker (Classic version of FM, Mac is running OS X Panther). The installer showed up as a text file. What I did is I logged out of the share and relogged in using SMB. Once I authenticated, I went back into the installer and lo and behold the installer was executable by Mac OS X!

Just something to consider if you haven't tried this out. I can't explain it, but it worked for me.
