Windows iTunes coming October 16

I hope its interface is an _updated_ one from QT6 for Windows. That one's _really_ ugly and just doesn't look right on a PC...

A lot of software companies do half-assed jobs on Mac ports, or leave features out of their Mac software... I guess not everyone is immune, as Apple seems to do the same sometimes. I think iTunes is too elegant and sophisticated for Windows users. :)

macrumors had an article about iTunes 5 - the port that will be released for Windows on the 16th and a new mac version will also be available.

An unverified but unusually detailed submission claims that iTunes 5 will be introduced on October 16th, and will be both Mac and PC compatible. New features are said to include WMA support, music store "listener loans", new encoding options and an all new interface.

New iPod accessories are said to include a recording device, a new dock to transfer and view movies and photos on a television and a bluetooth dock/headphone pair.

Meanwhile, a second (somewhat more reliable) report claims that beyond the recording device, there will be an adapter to provide SD and CF card interface to transfer photos to the iPod... possibly validating some information in the above report.

Readers may recall that rumors of iPod peripherals were first noted in late August. At the time, it was reported that the new peripherals would require iPod software updates for their function.

An all new interface? They had better not change it too much, it's already got a great interface.

apple's known for making very intuitive interfaces. no matter how different it looks, it will be just as easy, if not more, and as beatiful as it is now.
