Windows Media Player Problem

Alright, I've been trying to watch the gators play in the NCAA Tournament w/o any luck. If I'm on a PC, I have no problems but every time I try on my PowerBook G4, I get an error message which reads:

"Can not open the file. Verify that the path and file name are correct and try again."

I have the latest version of windows media player 9 installed and like I said, it works on any pc that I try it on. What am I doing wrong?

WHat version of Windows Media Player are you running on that PC? I'm sure it's at least version 10 which is much more up to date compared to the Windows Media Player 9 that MS made available for the Mac. The only other option you have is to install Flip4Mac and it will run on QuickTime.

Also remember that if the media you're trying to access is a DRMed Windows Media file then you're out of luck. Those only work on Windows Media Player for Windows (gotta love vendor lock-in on media formats especially when they cater to the RIAA/MPAA ). The only other option would be to use VLC or MPlayer.

Good luck.

nixgeek, thanks for the help, but unfortunately everything you said was way over my head. I don't even know where to start for half of it. It doesn't matter really anyways since the tournament is almost over. As long as I get to listen to the Gators win another basketball championship I don't mind walking to the library.
