Windows Media Player tries to open Realplayer Icons

Hi

I have OSX 10.4 on my G4. I also have Realplayer 10 and Windows Media Player 9.

If I click on to any Realplayer icon on my desktop it is WMP which tries to open the file. I then get the message that WMP cannot open the file...

Of course I can open the Realplayer file by dragging the icon onto a Realplayer 10 alias - but that is not the real solution - right?

If I am on the web and I am able to choose between Real Player and WMP to view a webcast the problem does not arise.

Does anybody have some advice? Thanks.

First select one of the Real Player files then press Command+I. In the Get Info window this opens find the item labeled Open With. Then in the drop down menu select Real Player. Finally click the "Change All" button. that will change the file association for all files with that extension, and Type and Creator codes if they are present.

The reason playing directly in the browser works is because the Protocol Helper applications are store in a different database and may be different from the Launch Services database.
