Wireless Connection

Hello ! I think I might need some help ! Since setting up my wireless connection in my new house - my internet connection has been a complete nightmare. I'm using an Airport Express with my netgear modem. When I try and connect - my Apple Network frequently is not displayed as an available network - and I get re-routed to BT 'Open Zone' (my husband also can't connect to my wireless network with his Iphone). I often have to re-start my computer to get my Apple Network to be displayed and then 'tick' it to get started. Even after this - my internet connection is incredibly slow and often gets stuck on 'loading' in my address bar. Often I get told the web address can't be found...or I can sent to Network diagnostics where all the pointers are red...and then after playing around for a bit - they turn green and I'm told I have a connection. It's driving me mad !

Do you think I need to adjust my Airport Express/ Network preferences/ PPoE, etc settings? My modem always has all the correct lights on green - so am not sure it's a problem with my actual internet provider. I have a MacBook OS X 10.4.11. I'm also not very good at troubleshooting - as you can probably tell !

Hope this makes some sense!
Cheers!

Can you please specify the following information?
* Security
** Security Mode
** Encryption

* Basic Settings:
** Network Mode
** Channel Width

Thanks,

Cheers for the prompt response. Can you clarify what you mean by the above and where I would find the info? Sorry, but am a little bit of a dunce when it comes to this kind of stuff!

Usually all the wireless routers have a main configuration page. For netgear, I understand you need to check the following addresses:
• http://www.routerlogin.net
• http://www.routerlogin.com
• http://192.168.1.1
Log in to the router at http://www.routerlogin.net with its default user name of admin and default password of password, or using whatever LAN address and password you have set up.

For more details, check this configuration guide: http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wireless_router_setupmanual.pdf

Try first to connect it wired (through a cable)... It will be easier to configure it this way.

Then test it wireless...

Hope this helps you!

Cheers

I've got on my netgear page and have looked under 'security', but have only found 'logs', 'firewall rules' and 'services'...I can't seem to locate the info you've asked for and am also having problems finding the 'network mode' and 'channel width' !

Should I hook up my internet connection to the cable so it's wired..and then totally re-set up the Airport ? ( I didn't do this when I moved house...it just seemed to work again when my internet connection went live..although of course now it's only working intermittently!)

Cheers!
