Wireless Mouse Question

I hope I've selected the most appropriate category in which to post this thread:

I'm considering buying a wirless mouse for my iBook. I do love the trackpad mouse because I never have to take my hands off the keyboard while working. Going back and forth from keyboard to mouse just seems cumbersome to me. However, I would like the wireless mouse for 1) variety, just to have the option when working on a large surface area, 2) to use under special circumstances, and 3) to use while playing The Sims 2 (I think maybe it would be easier to control the game with a regular mouse as opposed to a trackpad, don't you think?).

I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I want a decent wireless mouse that is comfortable (I tend to have issues every now and then with carpal tunnel, so comfy-ness is a must for me). If anyone has any suggestions on which brand/type of wireless mouse to get, I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, if you have any experience with games (The Sims 2 in particular), could you let me know if using a regular mouse would improve performance as opposed to playing with a trackpad mouse?

Thanks a heap!

I have a Benq wireless mouse for my PB. Works well, two button and scroll wheel.

Which one do you have? I went to the link, but there are three options of mice to choose from. Which one would be compatible with my iBook? What's the difference between the three types of mice on that link?

P.S. Do you think a wireless mouse would make a difference in performance control while gaming? Better than a trackpad mouse or no difference?

I can't answer that, but you have better/faster control with a mouse.

Also: I wouldn't be using the wireless mouse *all* the time. I would switch back and forth, depending on what I'm working on, between my trackpad mouse and the wireless mouse. Would that be a problem or can I easily switch back and forth?

I hav´an older one, the M310.
You can use either/or with the mouse adapter plugged in.

There's a preference about this, though. You can set the trackpad to ignore input when another mouse is connected. Then you have to disconnect the mouse's wireless adapter in order to use the trackpad again. This option is for people who often accidentally touch the trackpad with their ultra-large hands while typing, I guess... ;)

I've had two Kensington wireless mice I hated them both. (anyone wanna buy one?) There was a delay between mouse and on screen!!! I believe this to be a software issue that Kensington won't or can't fix.

If I were to try again for a wireless I'd go with a Logitech as I've always loved their wired mice.

Funny you should mention that. I *just* saw that in System Preferences as I was playing around with the response speed to adjust my new Kensington PocketMouse. AND ... it has a scroll wheel, which is the main reason why I didn't buy Apple's wireless mouse (no scroll wheel). You'd think that with a company as advanced as Apple, they'd make a wireless mouse with a scroll wheel. :(

Oh, and the best part about my wireless mouse is the price: $14.99. It was regular 30 bucks. Got it on sale for $25 plus I get a $10 rebate. :D

I just bought a Kensington PocketMouse Wireless Optical Mini. I love it! Works great. :D

Update: I still love my Kensington PocketMouse. Great respsonse, fast, point-and-click accuracy. But I do have just one complaint: The darn battery cover is REALLY hard to open. I hope the batteries last a decent while 'cause that would be a pain in the butt to change them and have to open the battery cover often. I'm not exaggerating either--it's REALLY difficult to get open. Other than that, I like it a lot.
