I have on older version imac (the one just after the original blondie blue) and am running OS X (the latest one).

I need to get a wireless usb adapter for it to access my network.

A search of this forum and google produced only the Dlink DWL-122 as a possible candidate, but this product seems to have been discontinued.

There must be something else I can use that's compatible with mac. Can anyone help?

TIA,
gm

You don't need a USB adapter, you can use this or just about any brand of Ethernet-to-Wireless Bridge. I would recommend, however, that for the sake of simplicity, you select from the same brand as that of the router you are using. That is because D-Link units access the browser interface using 192.168.0.1, but others, such as Linksys, employ the more commonly used 192.168.1.1. While you can still connect to the network using a different brand of adapter, switching between networks and setting up your devices might be a bit tedious if you have to reconfigure TCP/IP to do this. (I have used the D-Link for my original Bondi iMac with both a D-Link router and a Westell gateway, so I almost know what I am talking about.)
