Word X vs Word 2000 Issues

I work at a Firm and ran into a possible issue I was hoping someone could help with. We have a partner that sent a Word X document to us from home and it was stopped at our Viruswall because our Virus scanning software detected multimedia extensions in it. It in fact does NOT have any viruses in it but we are curious to know if Quicktime or any other Mac application inserts some extensions into Word documents.

Any help or insight would be appreciated. I am not too familiar with Mac stuff but thought someone might know.

wierd.

I swap back and forth all the time with machines that run up-to-date NAV and have never had a problem, both via ethernet and internet. The network is small and does not run VirusWall. Maybe that is where the problem is.

As some extensions or HTML formatted documents have them, they are blocked as they come in or sent to our quarantine for checking and then released. We have a very reliable virus protection system in place and this is just one of our precautions.
