Yay! Go Italy! Here's to hoping you go to the finals this year, instead of losing to France in *#(@ing penalty kicks!

In Group A, this is what I hope happens.

Either:

1) France loses to Denmark, thereby not advancing to the second round.

2) France loses to Uruguay, thereby not advancing to the second round.

3) France wins against Denmark and Uruguay. Senegal and Denmark win against Uruguay. Senegal or Denmark advances to the second round because they have 9 points. The other of Senegal or Denmark advances to the second round because more goal scored for and less against than France, who also has 6 points.

France is in a little trouble here, no doubt about it. With that loss to Senegal, they better score some serious goals against Denmark and/or Uruguay in order to insure they advance to the second round.

The thing is, France still has to rely on some luck to advance. That loss really will hamper them.

France has to win both games and it has to hope that Uruguay also wins one or two of its next games, in order to ensure that it advances. Otherwise, who advances is going to be determined by Goals For and Goals Against.
