X Server Problem, possibly smbd

Hi

Was wondering if anyone would have any idea what may be causing the following problem:

After a fatal error message on the XServer, which resulted in unprepared server restart, we decided to take a look at the console & system logs. In both logs there seems to be a lot of crashdump references for smbd. I found more details on these errors in the smbd.crash.log. Here's a portion of the smdb.crash.log:

We’ve also noticed a couple of issues with the few windows computers we have. I'm assuming these problems are related to the SMB errors on the XServer. The Win XP computers are unable to print to one particular print cue on the XServer. However they are able to print directly to the printer and have no problems printing to the other three print cues on the XServer. Also, it's been reported, if a Win XP user is working on a document stored on the XServer sharepoint, they often have trouble saving changes to the file. Usually the user gets an I/O error or read/write error when saving changes to the file. This seems to happen at random times and only with the windows users.

If it helps the XServer (version 10.3.7) is running file/print services, dhcp and a domain controller for the few windows clients we have.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, i am not a mac expert or anything, i usual solve PC problems, so it if you have any ideas, could you please put them in simple terms so that a non mac expert can understand and possibly test next time they are at the server :)

Out of curiosity, is your Windows Domain Controller (the Xserve) also your Open Directory Master? That's a no no, depending on who you ask. It puts your server in an 'unknown' state.

Before updating to 10.3.7, did you run repairPermissions and again after applying the patch?
