I know its on my install disk as an 'optional install' but I can't find the disk.

(I know... I know... dumbness)

The apple online store has a copy of it, but its only for old macs. Does anybody know where I can get this? I'm trying to install Gimp.

Thanks :)

X11 has nothing to do with Xcode. Xcode is the standard MacOS X integrated development system. X11 is the MacOS X port of the X Windowing System. It is required for the GIMP.

However, both ship with every Mac and with every copy of MacOS X. If you own a newer Mac, X11 is not available for download. It can be installed only from the disc which shipped with the computer.

Try Seashore http://seashore.sourceforge.net/index.php

It is a port of Gimp to OS X with Aqua interface and doesn't need X11.

Don't forget that Seashore is a stripped-down version of GIMP. I still use the Gimp.app application, despite that it uses X11 to run.

Hmmmm... *cough* *cough*
