Okay, here is what I have...

Airport Extreme Basestation connected to Comcast Cable Modem

PowerBook G4 with Internet sharing on...

A real long ethernet cable...

Xbox...

Now what do I do to get them going because I ran out of ideas...

Well, what ideas did you do already? Error messages? How did you have it connected? The Xbox should just run into one of the ports of the base station.

First off are you sure your modem will work with Xbox Live? They have a list of compatible modems and routers on the xbox site although its by no means comprehensive (mine isnt on there and I'm ok) so its worth checking out these pages:

http://www.xbox.com/en-gb/live/start/

http://www.xbox.com/en-gb/live/start/connect/faq/default.htm

http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/live/start/connect/

"Wireless LANs are not officially supported for Xbox. Depending on the distances involved, the construction of your home, sources of interference, you may not get good performance from a wireless solution. The setup is also not for the faint of heart. If you know what an SSID is, then you might be ok, but if you don't, you should probably stay away from using wireless for your Xbox. To put it another way, it's possible to get wireless to work for Xbox Live, but our support staff can't help you do it."

...I found this right at the bottom below a bunch of people with the same problem:

"Johnny, it does work - I have my xbox connected wirelessly to the previous generation (aka 'snow') Airport base station.
You need to make sure you are entering the Wireless Equivalent Password on the Xbox (available from a menu in the airport admin utility) rather than the 'password' you set up for the airport that can be entered on your Mac.
Don't get your hopes up too much though... I lose my XBL connection randomly when I am connected through my base station. it is good enough for downloading maps and stuff, and playing "some games" "some of the time", but it isn't 100%"

Google is your friend. Do not forsake Google.

I use my xbox with my airport extream base station. I haven't expernced any problems. But if your using any kind of sercurity, such as network acess control, you'll probable need to add the xbox's ethernet card ID.

Also make shure sharing is set propertly. Allot of people miss the pull down menu. I would be willing to bet it's set to ethernet. It should be "Share your connection from:" Airport, and "To Computers using:" ethernet.

You can check to see if the xbox is comunicated with the portable by looking at your xbox settings. If it's getting an ip by the dhcp server on the power book it will display it's ip.

You do have the xbox live starter kit right?

I took another look at my setup, and I relised I had my tower(ethernet port) and the xbox on manual addressing, with sharing internet sharing started, and copied the dns servers from the airport base station to the xbox. And set the xbox router address to the tower ethernet ip address.
