Xbox LIVE.

Microsoft is going to lose TONS of money on their online gaming strategy, Xbox LIVE, with their Xbox.

How do I get it?

You gotta have high speed, or broadband, Internet service. That's number one. If you don't have it, get it. (You don't want to be the last on the block with dial-up – that's just embarrassing.)
I work at a company that provides dialup Internet service, and we get several signups per day. Think about all the nimrods that are stuck with AOL as well.

Microsoft has a failure game system on their hands. ;) I can't wait to see how right I am. Now Nintendo and Sony are smart, they're going to provide the option of dialup and broadband gaming.

For the record, I HATE XBOX WITH A PASSION. :D

Furthermore, putting console games on the internet ruins the entire idea behind them, to have fun with your FRIENDS, though I'm willing to make an exception if you have none.;)

Communication between players will be tough, as there is no keyboard, and the voice transmissions will have to be scrambled in order to protect kids. See how annoying that could get?

Sorry, but nothing compares to crushing the person sitting next to you. Ricky, you'll be happy to know the MS has created a central server 3 times bigger than it could possibly need. Too bad it wont be used that much at all.

Wouldn't that mean it's around 90 times bigger than they need? :D

According to the latest survey, only 7% of the US internet users have broadband, and the rate of sign up is not picking up.

If broadband is a prerequisite for Xbox LIVE, it would be a tough sell. Xbox is targetted for the teen market, and it is their parents who make the decisions for adopting broadband, also XL charges a fee per month, so factoring the XL fee and the broadband fee, it'll be quite expensive.

I am personally fortunate enough to have broadband. :) Great stuff, but I don't have an Xbox, nor do I plan on getting one. ;)

So if there are more people like me out there, then the Xbox LIVE stuff isn't going to fly. :D Hahahaha.

putting the XBOX on the internet was AWESOME! when GameSpy put in the XBOX tunnel for their gaming software, i got into it immediately! you can't imagine the amount of fun I had playing Halo and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2x with tons of people I didn't know.

And who said they (MS) or a 3rd party corporation couldn't make a keyboard for the XBOX? the connector is just a special USB port... easy to reconfigure! they even have guides on how to do it! if using voice communication, yea, some kids won't need to hear some things people say, but if they're gonna play a game such as halo, which has cussing in it, they shouldn't go crying to they're parents "ooh mommy i heard a bad word! waaaaaaaaaah!"

It wasn't that there isn't a keyboard, its just that it would be hard to use it during a game, unlike on a PC where the actual controller is a keyboard. I don't know anyone with an XBOX, but if online gaming on it is a much fun as you claim, I'd be glad to give it a chance.
