Yahoo small biz stores -- any experiences?

Hi All,

Has anyone had any experience setting up shop with Yahoo stores, good, bad or indifferent?

I may set up a store for someone and I'd be interested in hearing anyone's experiences. Some questions I'd have:

1) From a designer, HTML-coder point of view, how customizable is it?
2) Any snafus or caveats I should know about?
3) Better ways to go?

Thanks.

L

1.) Very little, if any.
2.) Mostly template based, see #1
3.) You could get your own host and use a cart/shopping system based on PHP *or ASP, Java, etc...). Use paypal or one of the numerous electronic payment companies for credit cards. It all depends on just how far you want to go with it and how custom you want it to be.

My personal experience with them is that they're slow, bulky, and their customer support is useless. You might be able to get more for your money somewhere else, then again you might not.

...all true. However, Yahoo stores are good for getting your product out to a particualr demographic. A guy I work with has looked into them and they do have a high amount of traffic/sales. I was reading that google was working on a store system as well, which may be worth waiting for.
